Marketing that Sticks

If the Promotional Magnet Was a Reindeer, It Would Be…?

Reindeer imageWith Christmas right around the corner, I thought it time to answer that burning holiday question being discussed at the  best Christmas parties across the country (OK, the Magnetic Attractions Christmas Party.)

“If Promotional Magnets could be any of Santa’s reindeer, which one would it be? ”

The answer is as clear as the nose on your face. Promotional magnets are the Rudolph of the marketing world.  Here are the 3 Reasons Why.

1. Magnets sometimes are left out of the Reindeer Games -  For some companies, online, mobile and social marketing are becoming the only game in town.  They mistakenly have forgotten the value of traditional marketing that magnets, print and direct mail deliver. (Even though a typical postcard generates a 4% response rate) Eventually,  most come around to seeing that magnets can play a vital role in their integrated marketing campaign – just like everyone came around to Rudolph’s value leading the sleigh.

2.   Magnets have a nose to cut through clutter - Magnets and magnetic mailers can cut through the murkiest conditions caused by email clutter, mailbox crowding and continuous channel-surfing.  That means your message stands out once delivered. Like the red nose, you can’t help but notice the look and feel of a magnet (That’s why magnets on a postcard increase readership by 52%)

3. Magnets can make brands memorable - Ask anyone to name Santa’s reindeer and Rudolph is the first one mentioned (and he isn’t even one of the 8).  Magnets can generate that same type of recall for your brand (see how).  Unlike other advertising methods, people like getting magnets because they are so useful.  Promotional magnets find a home on the family refrigerator where they will be seen over 20,000 times a year.   That can mean the difference in being remembered like Rudolph or forgotten like Vixen (I never can remember him).

On that note, I rest my case, and don’t worry, I’m not about to start singing the song.  But, what I will do is to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays or Happy Festivus to you and yours.   I know everyone at Magnetic Attractions thanks you for your business in 2011, and looks to serving your promtional magnet needs in 2012.

Happy Holidays.
